US equities grind higher on earnings while breadth-driven correction risk stays elevated — strong fundamentals, fragile price

- Outcome
- The S&P 500 rose to a record on Aug 13 and was about 4% above its level at the call by the Oct 28 FOMC decision (7,735 vs 7,412 on Jul 24). It stayed above its 200-day average the whole window (7,735 vs about 7,303 on Oct 28), so the brief's invalidation never triggered. The fragility the call described did show up: the share of S&P stocks above their 200-day average fell from about 69% to roughly 40–50%, the Fed hiked on Sep 16, and the 10-year held above 5% from late September. Graded partial because "correction risk stays elevated" cannot be scored as written, and the call did not test whether earnings drove the gain.

Provenance
Every call on the Record is hashed with SHA-256 over its canonical JSON, and the hashes are sealed into a Merkle root anchored on the Base blockchain. A grade or correction written after an anchor appears in the regrade log with its date and is sealed at the next anchor. The anchor page explains how to verify a call against the chain, and the full Record lists every call with the strict and directional tallies.
